Dear fellow Light Traveller,
Know thyself: A 2,500 year old maxim from ancient Greek philosophy that implores you to recognise who you truly are, including your motives, capacities, limitations, biases, desires, and self-deceptions.
It is often attributed to Socrates, but this magic spell is much older than even that great father of wisdom, who believed self-knowledge began once you recognised the limits of what you know.
Later traditions took it further: Plato connected self-knowledge with understanding the soul. The Stoics asked you to distinguish what lies within your control. Jung challenged you to uncover the parts of yourself that are hidden from ordinary consciousness. But all these great sages, and many more from across time and tradition, have asked this same simple thing of you: know who you are, in all your infinite facets of light and dark.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step: Another 2,300 year old maxim, this time from the ancient Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu. The journey to your Self is not a straight and easy path and you are going to need a guide along the way. The fact that you are reading this now means you have already taken that crucial first step of a thousand on a lifelong journey, and, dear friend, I applaud you for getting this far with your open-minded and open-hearted curiosity to do a journey. You spirit protectors have guided you here to Bernike so that you may journey safely. Trust them. She has lovingly and with great care carved out a sacred space in this frenetic world where you can surrender yourself entirely, knowing that you are safe, loved, protected, guided and nurtured.
We often think that we are very different from our ancient ancestors, with our modern knowledge and amazing technology, but in truth, we have never been more disconnected from nature, from each other and, worse yet, from ourselves than now. We may have everything material we’ve ever needed, and more, and yet, there is very often a deep rent in our souls. The one thing that is most often missing in our lives now is magic, and the magicians who wield it. Bernike is the Merlin, the Fairy Godmother, the Gandalf, the Good Witch, the Virgil, the Lady of the Lake in every sense of the Magician archetype. She will guide you through a ritual process that is as powerful as it is transformative. But it is the genuine, authentic and exceptionally rare love and support that she shows you long before and long after you ever step into her sacred space. Beware those pseudo-magicians who have learned to talk the language of light, for their tongue is often forked. Bernike is truly there for you, in a way very few people ever are, simply because this is her life’s calling, just like all the sacred sages who have answered this ancient call before her.
Safe travels!
